27 Aug Tour -day 2
The boys enjoyed some good football in sweltering 30 degrees heat today.
Our hosts today were Kai steenbrugge who had fantastic facilities including several pitches (grass and astro) and club house.
Both of our teams came up against very stronge Belgium sides, playing 4 X20 minutes which soon actually got changed to 8 x10 minutes just so the boys could get some water in them as the weather was sweltering.
Strangely enough we learnt that Belgium clubs at this level don’t use linesman and rely on the ref for offside decisions. However our u14s opponents agreed to use linesmen but our u16s opponents weren’t keen.
Sadly both of our teams came 2nd despite playing some great football. The u14s lost 5-3 and u16s 11-1 (with several goals being offside!!)
After a fair bit of socializing after the game we all departed and went off it watch the top professional Belgium game v KV Oostend and Waasland Beveren. A very entertaining game with 2 red cards and a 2-1 victory to the homesite Oostend. Early start timirriw as the boys have a tournament at Daring Brugge.. Coach leaving at 8am
(Apologies for the lack of photos- really weak signal and they won’t upload!)
